Charles Phillip Wilson, 92, passed away at 1:10 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2014, at his home. He was born on October 1, 1921, in El Dorado, Kan. to the late Harry McKinley and Anna Mae (Gogola) Wilson. On September 5, 1948, at Calvary Baptist Church, he married the former Jane Gleason. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Jane Wilson, of South Bend, Ind.; daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Jane (Steve) Williams, of Macy, Ind.; son, Bruce Alan Wilson, of South Bend, Ind.; daughter-in-law, Linda Wilson, of Weaver; five grandchildren, Charles Phillip (Ginger) Wilson II, Melissa Wilson-Bivins, Zachary (Stacy) Williams, Andrew Williams and Daniel (Katie) Williams; five great grandchildren, Jaylyn Wilson, Jasper Wilson, Crist Bivins, Drew and Tyler Williams; three sisters, Marcelle Wilson, Sue Wilson, both of Rosalia, Kan., and Dorothy Vangieson of Liberal, Kan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Crist Phillip Wilson; sister, June Wilson; brother Frank Wilson. Mr. Wilson served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He was in the Honor Guard for President Truman. He worked for Robertson Department Store for 37 years and for Ethan Allen, Naked Furniture and Martins. He was a member of Community Baptist Church, South Bend, Ind. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 15, 2014, at Community Baptist Church, 5715 Miami St. South Bend, Ind. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Friends may visit with the family at church from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the services Thursday. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family.
