Funeral service for Chester G. Huckaby, 76, of Anniston, will be 1 p.m. Saturday May 30, 2015, at Golden Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Roland Brown and Dr. Alan Medders officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11-1 p.m. at the church. Mr. Huckaby passed away Thursday at NHC. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Barbara Owen Huckaby; children, Denise H. Medders (Alan), Donna H. Shaw (Richard) and Daniel O. Huckaby (Sharon); eight grandchildren, Kelsey Shaw Perry (Jody), Patrick Shaw, Alison Medders Duncan (Dustin), Andrea Medders, Maggie Huckaby, Morgan Huckaby, Chase Crandall and Justin Crandall; twin brother Lester F. Huckaby (Agnes); in-laws, Gerald Watkins, Sharron Owen and Gerald Owen (Debbie). Mr. Huckaby is preceded in death by his parents, William and Lannie Huckaby; sisters, Gladys H. Dethrage (Fred) and Bernice H. Watkins; brother, Billy Ray Huckaby (Betty). Mr. Huckaby was born in Randolph County, Ala. to William A. and Lannie Huckaby. He managed Brassies Credit Union serving the employees of Lee Brass for 46 years. He was a member of Golden Springs Baptist Church since 1966. Mr. Huckaby never had an idle moment. He was a fantastic gardener (having the best in Golden Springs), loved fishing, raising cattle, painting/repairing the house and was heavily involved in anything pertaining to his children. When he was not working, he enjoyed watching the Gaither's videos and Alabama football. The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to the Golden Springs Baptist Church Bereavement Ministry at Golden Springs Baptist Church, Bereavement Ministry, 3 Robertson Road, Anniston, AL 36207.
