Mrs. Clara Jean Barber, 85, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Barber was born on August 22, 1930 in Morrison's Crossroads, the daughter of the late John W. Lipham and Berta Shaddix Lipham. She was born in Randolph County and was a lifelong resident of Randolph County and Chambers County. She was preceded in death by an infant sister and two brothers, Velpo Lipham, of Valley and Elmo Lipham, of Lincoln, Nebraska. Mrs. Barber was a loving and caring mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her loving and caring spirit was felt by all whose path she crossed. In addition to her own family, she was considered to be a mother to many. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving Mrs. Barber are her loving husband and best friend of sixty five years, Charles A. Barber, of Lanett; three sons, John A. (Lamar) Barber, of Suches, Ga., James "Jim" (Diana) Barber, of Suwanee, Ga., and Jerry (Luanne), of Lanett; five grandchildren, Nekol (Richard) Barber-Schmidt, of Marietta, Ga.; Andrew (Brittany) Barber, of Valley, Lindsey (Brandon) Mitchell, of LaGrange, Ga., Steven Barber and Daniel Barber, both of Suwanee, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Austin Barber, Cordelia Schmidt and Ava Barber. Mrs. Barber was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Lanett. She was a former employee of Georgia-Alabama Supply Company in West Point, Ga. with over 42 years of service to the company. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. EDT. at the First United Methodist Church of Lanett with the Rev. Russell H. Williams officiating.
