Funeral service for Claude (C.W.) Hayes will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday May 13, 2017, at First Baptist Church Jacksonville, AL (7th Street Campus, 230 7th St NE Jacksonville, AL). The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife, Martha Hayes, Jacksonville; sons, DeWayne Hayes, Covington, Ga. and Troi Hayes, Jacksonville; grandchildren, Ashley Hayes, Madelyne Hayes and Cody Hayes; one sister, Katherine Garrett, of Griffin, Georgia. C.W. Hayes, raised in Cleveland, Tenn. was a long time resident of Atlanta, Ga. before relocating to Jacksonville in 1994. A Decorated World War II Combat Veteran he received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star serving in Patton's 3rd Army, 87th Infantry in Europe. C.W. Hayes, a True Champion in The Greatest Generation served his country with pride, came home to America, married and raised a family he dearly loved, lived a full life, made many friends and was always ready to help someone in need. The Hayes family would like to invite Veterans of all wars to share in our loss, salute, and celebrate the life of Claude W. Hayes. He is and always will be adored by his family.
