Mrs. Cliffie Newell Otwell Smith, passed away peacefully at her home on July 31, 2016. Dressed for church, instead she met Jesus at home. She was 72. Mrs. Smith was born in the Old Hopewell Community of Cleburne County, on November 30, 1943, to Samuel Fred and I.V. Allen Otwell. She enjoyed gardening and was a long time member of Ranburne First Baptist Church. She was currently enjoying attending Macedonia Baptist in Ranburne. Time was also spent worshiping with sisters at Freedom Baptist in Ranburne. What she will be most remembered for by her family was her devotion to Jesus Christ and her loving family. She is a dearly loved mother, memo/memaw, and sister. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Fred Otwell; and her brothers, Raymond, Gary and Glynn Otwell. Survivors include her mother, I.V. Otwell; her children, Sherry Smith Skinner, David Smith and his wife, Dawn, and Richard Smith; her grandchildren, Crystal Skye Morrison Smith, Will Skinner, Madison Smith, Mack Smith, Chase and Kelsey Smith, and Chance and Savannah Smith; her great-grandchildren, Noah Kane, Bailey Smith, and Katie Smith; her siblings and their spouses, Mary Jane and Jimmy Partlow, Lynn and Bobbie Jo Otwell, Shelia and Mark Robinson, and Sharon Morgan; her sisters-in-law, Sarah Otwell and Sharon Otwell; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at 12 p.m. EST at Ranburne First Baptist Church. Bro. Chad Burdette, Bro. James Benefield and Bro. Darryl Jones will officiate. Pallbearers will be Randy Otwell, Marty Otwell, Mack Otwell, Jamie Otwell, Shane Moore, Derek Shelton and Cody Skinner. Interment will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, from 4 - 8 p.m. EST. Messages of condolence can be sent to the family at Rainwater Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
