Clifford Otis Black Jr. was born on December 15, 1946, the son of Clifford O. Black Sr. and Doris Smith Black. He was a member of Daviston Baptist Church. He was retired from Thompson Tractor-Caterpillar, first in field service, later as a Service Manager and last as a Facility Manager at the Oxford store. After retirement he dedicated much of his time as a volunteer fire fighter and first responder for the Daviston Volunteer Fire Department. In the last few years, Mr. Black was honored to serve his community as a Tallapoosa County Constable. He loved to be busy, especially with tractors and Caterpillar equipment. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Bobbie Dean McDaniel Black, of Daviston; his mother, Doris Black; one brother, Michael Black (wife, Joanne); daughter, Natalie Haynes (husband, Joe); grandchildren, Emily Rasbury (husband, Mark) and Sabrina Wood (husband, Teron); great-grandchildren, Mary Carol Rasbury, Rebecca and Katie Rasbury and Clark and Jenna Wood; brother-in-law, Ralph McDaniel (wife, Janet) and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Black was preceded in death by his father, Clifford O. Black Sr. and two brothers, Bill Black and Tommy Black. Service will be at 1 p.m. today, September 8, 2015, at the Daviston Baptist Church, with interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clifford "Cliff" Black, Gregg Thomas, Phillip Arnold, Louie McDaniel, Dewayne Latham, Jerry Bice, Thurman Hamlet and Billy Meigs. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brandon Black, Ray Story, Victor Dabbs, Brad Tucker and Ronnie Taunton, all members of the Daviston Volunteer Fire Department. The family requests no flowers but instead prefers that memorial contributions be made to the Daviston Baptist Church Building Fund P.O. Box 115 Daviston, AL 36256 or to the Daviston Volunteer Fire Department P.O. Box 66 Daviston, AL 36256. Memorial messages may be sent to the family at www.radneyfuneralhome.com.
