Curtis Alvin Kirkland passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham. Family and friends of Curtis Kirkland are invited to celebrate his life at Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Oxford on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, from 12-3 p.m. Formal service to begin at noon, with a celebration to follow. Family members include his wife of 40 years, MaryAnn Kirkland; son, Brett Kirkland and his wife Carol; daughters Jennifer Kirkland and Tammy Pilkington and her husband, Paul; sister, Sally Pavey and her husband Cecil; grandsons, Jaron Waldrop and Tanner Pilkington; granddaughters LTCPL Taylor Pilkington, Kayla and Courtney Kirkland; nephew, Jason Pavey and his wife Meredith; nephew, David Pavey and his wife Stacey, and their children Konnor, Kira, and Karson. He was preceded in death by parents, Cassie A. and Clara Bell Kirkland. Mr Kirkland was a life long resident of Calhoun County where he graduated from Wellborn High School (1964). He Graduated from Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville, Fla. and Anniston Business College in Anniston. He and his wife owned and operated a Funnel cake business for 11 years, and he was also a Viva Medicare Representative for 11 years before retiring. He pastored churches in Mississippi and Alabama and attended Word Alive International Outreach in Coldwater since 2001. He was an avid Bowler with an all time high score of 299. He was a life long follower of Christ with the desire to lead others to salvation. He was a man who loved fishing and had a passion for traveling and fine dining with his wife. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son and friend who enjoyed telling jokes to make others laugh, and he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
