Mr. Curtis Carl Morgan, 76, of Eastaboga, Ala. entered into "eternal" life on October 5, 2014 after a very prolonged illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Daphne Quinn Morgan; father, Carl Lester Morgan; and mother, Annie Lee Morgan. Educated in the DeKalb County School System, he graduated from Crossville High School in 1957. While in high school, he played the bass drum for the Crossville Lions Marching Band. He then attended, graduated from Snead State Community College, Dale Carnegie Institute in Business Management, and UAH. He began his career in 1964 as a salesman for National Life & Accident Insurance. Afterwards he advanced into management, training and served in Decatur, Ala., Talladega, Ala., and in 1975 moved to Anniston, Ala. His last 18 years of employment were with the Honda Corporation, before retiring in 2005. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church his entire life of almost 77 years. He was a member and Assistant Scout Master of the Boys Scouts of America in Anniston. He was an avid historian, reader, and Alabama Football, Roll Tide, Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant fan. He won many yearly leadership awards and had very strong and positive work ethic. Always, he wanted the people around him to feel good in his presence. He cherished his beloved state of Alabama, with his favorite song being "Stars Fell on Alabama". He was very well traveled going to Madrid, Spain; London, England; Edinburgh, Scotland; Sydney, Australia; Osaka, Japan; Nassau & Paradise Island, Bahamas; California, New York, Michigan, Massachusetts, Maine, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Washington, D.C. He is survived by his sons, Mark David Morgan, of Kennesaw, Ga., Jay (Patrick) Morgan, of Eastaboga, Ala.; step-daughter, Pamela Jean (Mark) Blankenship, of Cullman, Ala.; brothers, Larry Wayne (Freda) Morgan, of Boaz, Ala. and Michael Willis (Barbara) Morgan, of Hartselle, Ala.; sister, Amanda Renee' (Randy) Johnson, of Geraldine, Ala.; mother-in-law, Beatrice Bartlett Quinn, of Cullman, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. this evening. Interment will follow in Blue Springs Baptist Church Cemetery of Somerville, Ala. Contributions may be made in his honor to Georgia Cancer Institute, Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA, or Bristol Hospice, Vinings, GA.
