A memorial service for Mr. Dale Irving Garrett, 72, of Munford, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Silver Run Chapel, 62 Bell Springs Road (right off Highway 21), Munford, Alabama, with the Reverend David Gray officiating. Visitation to follow. Directions to the chapel can be found at www.silverrunchapel.com. Mr. Garrett passed away at his home on December 28, 2015. An Anniston native, Mr. Garrett was a graduate of Munford High School and Auburn University and was retired from the City of Anniston, where he had served first as Chief Building Inspector and later as the Public Works Director until his retirement in 2005. He was the local area VA, FHA, and HUD inspector in his retirement years. He was a member of Oxford First United Methodist Church, where he had previously served as Chairman of the Administrative Board and was a member of the choir; was previously a Scout Master of Anniston's Troop 2 of the Boy Scouts of America; was a member of the Oxford Lions Club and Mustang Club of America; and served in the Alabama National Guard with the Corps of Engineers. Mr. Garrett is survived by his wife, Allison Noble Garrett; son, Jeremy Dale Garrett and his wife, Sarah Longshore Garrett, of Madison; sisters, Nancy Garrett Jones and her husband, Julius, of Bryson City, N.C. and Martha Garrett Camp, of Norcross, Ga.; sister-in-law, Andrea Noble Moncus, of LaGrange, Ga.; brother-in-law, John Mark Noble, of Columbia, S.C.; nieces and nephews, Cindy Camp and her husband, Bhaskar Thapa, Leslie Camp, Jason Jones, Jonathon Moncus and his wife Christina and Callie Moncus. He is preceded in death by his father, Elbert Hugh Garrett; his mother, Martha Alma Preddy Garrett; a brother-in-law, Joseph Lee Camp.
