Funeral service for Mr. David Alexander Ballard, 92, of Alexandria, will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with the Reverend Jackie Connell officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 - 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Ballard died on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Col. Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home in Pell City. Mr. Ballard was a native of Clay County, Alabama. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Ballard was retired from South Central Bell and was a former member of Carpenter United Methodist Church. Mr. Ballard is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Black Ballard; his parents, Benjiman F. Ballard and Mary Isabell Patterson Ballard; two sisters and four brothers. Mr. Ballard is survived by his sons, David Rodney Ballard and his wife, Frances and Randy Alexander Ballard and his wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Brandon Ballard and his wife, Tammy, Stephanie Ballard Newton and her husband, Keith, Alex Ballard and Amanda Ballard Gray and her husband, Matthew; five great- grandchildren, Ellie and Ethan Anderson, Hunter and Haylie Ballard and Easton Gray and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Dennis, Alan, and Keith Lindsay, Alex Ballard, Brandon Ballard, Keith Newton, Matthew Gray, Ethan Anderson and Hunter Ballard.
