David Allen Haynes, 66, of Worthington, Ind,, passed away 3:50 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington, Ind. He was born in Anniston, Alabama on May 19, 1947, the son of David Edgar & Gladys (Stewart) Haynes. Allen graduated from Walter Wellborn High School in 1965. He then attended Jacksonville State University where he graduated with a BS in Education. in History, along with double Minors in Psychology and Economics. In 1979, he received his Masters of Divinity in theology. Allen worked as a pastor for several years. He was with West Central and White River Baptist Associations from 1982 - 2006, serving as Associational Missionary/Church Planter with the North American Mission Board. He served as Indiana State Disaster Relief Director from 1990 to 2008, organizing Indiana's Disaster Relief work and served in many states in the US, St. Croix, and Puerto Rico. Allen recently retired from being pastor at Shoals Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife whom he married on December 18, 1965, Beverly W. (Willingham) Haynes, his parents, of Bynum, Ala.; two sisters, Trudy (Tom), Rohr of Langston, Ala. and Beverly (Rev. Mike) Crowe of Scottsboro, Ala. Funeral service in Alabama will be held at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford, Ala. at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014. Burial will follow at Eulaton Baptist Church Cemetery in Anniston, Ala. Visitation will be held in Alabama at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of service.
