David Lanier Bobo, 87, of Oxford, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013. Visitation will be todau, December 1, 2013, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. with Minister C.J. Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Forestlawn Gardens cemetery. Mr. Bobo is survived by his daughter, Patricia Bobo Renfroe (Doug); son, Stan Bobo; daughter-in-law, Dianne Bobo Carraway (Mike); granddaughter, Cynthia Renfroe Pimm (Scott); grandsons, Adam Bobo (Beth), and Austin Bobo; great-granddaughters, Alexis, Hayley, and Jennifer Dumbacher; great-grandsons, Jack and Benjamin Pimm; sisters, Margery Prater, Bea Gray, and Ester Austin (Kenneth); brother, Henry Bobo; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Ann Lipham Bobo; son, Dennis J. Bobo, and granddaughter, Traci Renfroe Dumbacher. Mr. Bobo was a native of Calhoun County. He retired from the Alabama Power Company after a career of 43 years. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Navy on a troop transport ship in the Pacific. Mr. Bobo was a member of V.F.W. Post 924 and Elks Lodge No. 189. He received the first Elks Distinguished Service Award for outstanding service to humanity.
