Funeral service for Deacon John Elston "Jot", 77, will be on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Greater Thankful Baptist Church the Rev. Byron Jackson, pastor and Bishop Billy Ray Morgan, officiating. Interment will follow in Eden Hills Cemetery. Deacon Elston's remains will arrive at the church two hours prior to his service. Deacon Elston passed away on Sept. 5, 2016. He served 30 years as a Deacon of Rest Haven Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Minister Harriett Elston; daughter, Michele Baker; sons, John Elston Jr. and Shedric Elston (Jennifer); siblings, Mary Bowen (Benjamin), Barbara Batiste (Paul), Gladys Bowie, Arneita Bolton, Johnnie Mae Lawson, Angela Banes, James Elston Jr. (Ratree), Don Elston, Milton Elston (Brenda) and James Rudolph (Sandra); God-sister, Johnnie Mae Bolding; grandchildren, Cedric, Shemeka, Arielle, Emmitt, Darion, Kiera, Emilee, Malcolm and Aden; great-grandchildren, Xavier, Edriecus, Deontae, Keveontae, Tiana, Kamryn and Mi'Joi; other relatives and friends.
