EASTABOGA — Funeral services for Dennis E. Akins, 52, will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009, at Word Alive International Outreach Church. Burial will follow in the Dogwood Trails Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church. Mr. Akins died on Tuesday in Oxford.

Survivors include his wife, Devon Akins; son, Christopher Lee Akins; daughter, Misti Desiree Akins; mother, Betty Martin; stepfather, Eugene Martin; brother, Dewayne Akins; sisters, Myra Bell and Scottie Frye.

Pallbearers will be David L. Bowman, Chester Bowman, Adam Haynes, Greg Hindmon, Kevin Adams, Chris Roberts, Dan Kimbert and Billy Rains. Mr. Akins was a native of New Port, Tenn. and was a resident of Eastaboga. He was an employee of Anniston Army Depot and served in the U.S. Air Force.
