Memorial service for Derek Paul Kristjanson, 28, will be Saturday, May 2, 2015, 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. till service time at the funeral home. Mr. Kristjanson passed away on Monday at his residence after a long life battle with mental illness. Survivors include parents, Kamala and David Curlee; sister and brother-in-law, Britt and Joe Tidwell; sisters, Lauren Curlee and Christina Morris; brother, Kyle Curlee and nieces and nephews he adored. Derek was known as "Dancing Derek" as he walked everywhere listening to music. The family would like to say a big thank you to the Anniston Police Department, Anniston Fire Department and Anniston EMS who were always there to help him as he was a severe epileptic, with multiple seizures monthly.
