Graveside service with military honors for Dois Nathaniel McElwee, 75, will be Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Littlejohn Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Ballew and Mr. Wayne Naugher officiating. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home Wednesday from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Mr. McElwee passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Romaine McElwee, of Piedmont; one brother, Dan McElwee, of Auburn; two sisters, Estelle Norwood, of Hokes Bluff and Glenda Naugher (Wayne), of Piedmont; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be family members. Mr. McElwee was a Piedmont resident and retired from the United States Army with 22 years service. During his enlistment in the Army he served in Korea and was a Vietnam war veteran. He was a former member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was the owner and operator of Denim Beverage Company in Sarasota, Florida. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the Piedmont Police Department, Piedmont Fire Department or the Piedmont Rescue Squad.
