Don L. Shellhorse, 68, of Heflin, died Tuesday, December 16, following a short illness. Mr. Shellhorse was a native of Albertville but had lived in Heflin for the past 43 years. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a graduate of Jacksonville State University. Mr. Shellhorse was a founding member of the Episcopal Church of the Messiah in Heflin and served on the church vestry numerous times. At the time of his death, he was a real estate broker/agent. Mr. Shellhorse is survived by his wife, Jeri Groover Shellhorse; two daughters, Susan Dean (Diamond), Laura McElroy (Jay); six grandchildren; sister, Carol Duffey; numerous nephews and nieces. Celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 20, at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Messiah. The family will receive visitors at Dryden Funeral Home from 12-1:45 p.m. all in Heflin.
