Graveside Services for Mr. Donald C. Atkinson, 78, of Anniston, will be at Anniston Memorial Gardens, Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Randy Hagan officiating. Visitation will be today, March 18, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Mr. Atkinson passed away Sunday at RMC Anniston. Survivors include his daughter, Dionne Atkinson Pedersen, of Cornelius, N.C.; son, Donald Atkinson, of Anniston; sisters, Ruby Jean Liner, of Sylacauga, Dean Gallahar, of Talladega and Charlotte Blair, of Lincoln; brother, Joe Ray Atkinson, of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Katelyn Atkinson, Blake Pedersen, Alex Taylor and Chase Pedersen; nieces and nephews, Frank Wyville, Bryan Atkinson, Stan Gallahar, Lisa Arnold, Patrick Atkinson, David Gallahar, Pam Holland, LouAnn Liner, Jonathan Liner and several great nieces and nephews. Mr. Atkinson is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Atkinson and father, George H. Atkinson. Pallbearers will be Stan Gallahar, David Gallahar, Wayne Arnold, Tommy Digiacomo, Brian Woodfin and Tim Haynes. Honorary pallbearers will be Leland Fullbright and Clarence Vinson. Mr. Atkinson was a member of West Park Heights Baptist Church and a graduate of Talladega High School and Jacksonville State University. From 1953-1957 he served his county as a member of the United States Marine Corp. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be missed.
