A memorial service for Donald "Don" Holden, 65, will be Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens following the service. Mr. Holden passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. He is survived by his wife, Susie, of Opelika; two sisters, Sarah Smith and her husband, Roger, of Helena and Sheila McClure, of Montgomery; one step-daughter, Tonya Nelson and her husband, Jimmie, of Opelika; one step-son, Billy Keener, of Centre; three step-grandchildren, Aaron Mackey, Sydney Keener and Savanna Keener; two nieces and three nephews. Mr. Holden was born August 16, 1949 in Jacksonville to the late Rev. William A. and Sarah Estelle Holden. He was a member of Sunny Level Baptist Church in Alexander City. Mr. Holden retired from McKenzie Tankers on May 1, 2012 after working 23 years. He was a big Auburn football fan, "WAR EAGLE", and enjoyed NASCAR racing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mr. Holden was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. William A. and Sarah Estelle Holden.
