Funeral service for Donald Ray Reaves, 67, will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Reaves and the Rev. Jeremy Ford officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Survivors include his sons, Warren Reaves and Scotty Reaves; granddaughter, Ceilia Reaves; sister-in-law, Jerry Reaves; nephews, Jerry Wayne Reaves and Michael Reaves. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd M. Reaves and Coleen B. Reaves; brother, Wayne Reaves. Donnie was a graduate of Oxford High School in 1967 and quarterback of the football team during the 1965 and 1966 seasons. He graduated from Whitworth College in Brookhaven, Miss. and was a teacher, football and baseball coach in Mississippi. He coached junior high and little league football and baseball for many years. He maintained the LSU baseball facilities for many years. For many years he has been a supporter of Saks High School, a volunteer and avid fan of Saks High School softball and JSU softball. He was caretaker of the Saks Community Center and loved by the entire Saks community. Donnie was always about helping other people, especially young people and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Contributions may be made to Anniston Memorial Funeral Home for funeral expenses.
