Funeral service for Donald W. Howell, 63, will be Thursday, June 2, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Smith and the Rev. Fred Whitt officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. Mr. Howell passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016, at his home. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Cathy Howell; two daughters, Tammy Howell, of Piedmont and Melissa Hulsey (Daniel), of Tuscaloosa; two sons, CWO Michael Howell (Tammy), of Spring Garden and SSG Keith Howell (Jenny), of Seoul, Korea; seven grandchildren, Christopher Morrow, Paige Hulsey, Anthony Howell, Mikayla Hulsey, Corey Howell, Matthew Hulsey and Alyssa Howell; one sister, Sheila Saccucci Johnson (Don); one brother, Charles F. Howell, Jr. (Lucy); step-mother, Jean Howell and special caregiver, his grandson, Christopher Morrow. Pallbearers will be Anthony Howell, Christopher Morrow, Jeff Byers, Chris Bivens, Lee Hoskins and Don Johnson. Mr. Howell was a member of Dailey Street Baptist Church. Before he became bed ridden he enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family, telling stories about old times and jokes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Louise Howell and a brother, Ricky Howell.
