A funeral service for Doris Johnson Barber, 90, will be Sunday, January 11, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with the Rev. David Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Mrs. Barber died on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Cherokee County Health and Rehabilitation in Centre. She is survived by a son, James W. (Vera) Barber Jr., of Jacksonville; a sister, Faye Sumlin, of Milton, Fla.; a brother, Harrell (Sara) Johnson, of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Tommy (Jaime) Barber, of Hartsell and Christy Roberts, of Griffin, Ga.; one step-grandson, Ray (Nicole) Doss, of Anniston; six great-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be family members and friends. Ms. Barber was of the Baptist faith. She retired from Fort McClellan after working for 25 years. In her spare time she loved to fish and work in her yard. Ms. Barber was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Online condolences to the family at www.klbrownfuneralhome.com. K.L.
