Funeral service for Mrs. Dorothy Clifton Bishop, 83, will be on Friday, August 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Oxford with Brother Stan Albright officiating. The family will receive friends on the same day from 9 a.m. until service time. Her Savior called her home on August 2, 2017. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Becky Bishop Gay; grandchildren, Amanda Bishop Jones, Will Bishop, Alli Gay and Sam Gay; great-grandchildren, Lily Jones, Annie Jones, Noah Sublett, Brianna Sublett, Mayean Bishop, Mia Bishop and Wyatt Bishop; brother, Ben Clifton Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. Pallbearers will be Tony Gay, Sam Gay, Zack Jones, Jimmy Pursewell, Donald Jones and Sonny Gay. Mrs. Bishop was born in Birmingham and grew up in the Ensley area. She and her husband, Frank, moved to Oxford in 1961. She loved Southern gospel music, genealogy, her family, many friends and her church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Oxford at 95 E Oak Street, Oxford, AL 36203, attention: Wanda.
