Funeral service for Dorothy O. Detwiler, 88, will be 12 p.m. Saturday at Parker Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Mack Amis officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. A private family graveside will be held in New Highland Cemetery following the church service. Mrs. Detwiler died Wednesday at UAB in Birmingham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carter O. Detwiler, of Anniston. Survivors include two daughters, Nickie Pendley and Nancy Gregory; three grandchildren, Ashley Burrage and husband, Randy, Brooke Pendley, Daniel Gregory and wife, Cristina; six great-grand-children, Zach Burrage and wife, Sarah, Griffyn Burrage, Blakley Pendley, Jaxon Gregory, Emmerson Pendley and Zane Burrage. Pallbearers will be Harvey Campbell, Randy Lusk, Bud Owsley, David Phillips, William Weiser and John Gruenewald. Mrs. Detwiler was a native of Heflin and a resident of Anniston for the past 72 years. She was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church, where she, at one time, served as a church secretary. Mrs. Detwiler was in the Hope Sunday School Class. She retired from Boozer Laminated Beam Company. Mrs. Detwiler enjoyed taking cruises with her husband, gardening and spending time with family. Her Christian faith was evident throughout her lifetime. Her greatest joy in life was sharing her Christian beliefs with others. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Parker Memorial Baptist Church, 1205 Quintard Ave., Anniston 36201 or the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, 20 Rachel Imeinu St., Jerusalem 91010, Israel.
