Mr. Douglas Howard McCord, 85, passed away August 3, 2017 at Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center. The Reverend Dennis Smith and the Reverend Larry Barber will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. His family will receive friends Saturday from 12 until service time. Mr. McCord was a life long resident of Alexandria. He was a member of Agape Christian Fellowship Church and an U.S. Navy Veteran. Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, William Edward McCord and Rosa Lee McCord; his wife, Shirley Walker McCord, and his granddaughter, Amy Lynn Pouncey. Mr. McCord is survived by his children, Lisa A. McCord, Mark Douglas McCord (Beverly) and Clay Howard McCord (Virgie); grandchildren, Ryan McCord, Reid McCord, Rodney Murray, Jennifer Hackney, Karey Roberts, Lisa Brooks and Amanda Maharaj; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; brothers, William McCord (Willa), Samuel McCord (Pat) and Paul McCord (Debbie), and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ryan McCord, Reid McCord, Rodney Murray, Cory Bragg, Bob Renforth and Coy Bragg. Online condolences may be sent to K.L.
