Funeral service for Dovie Kirby, 97, will be on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter J. Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Eden Hills Cemetery. Mrs. Kirby remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to her service. Mrs. Kirby passed away on December 13, 2014 at Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Kirby was a member of Mt. Liberty Baptist Church; she was a Sunday School Teacher and on the Missionary Society. Survivors include her children, Gloria Kirby, of Tacoma, Wash., Dottie McMillian, Betty Wright, Charles Kirby, Jimmie (Mary) Kirby and Walter (Robin) Kirby, all of Anniston; 49 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Hattie Cowden; husband, Shelly Kirby Sr.; children, Shelly Kirby Jr. and Katherine Kirby; siblings, Tellis Cowden, Frank Cowden, Theodis Cowden, Irene Cowden, Mary Cowden, Myrtle Kelley and Channie White.
