Earlene Turner Kooken, 84, died Friday, July 24, 2015, at her daughter's residence. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Morris and Scott Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, July 26, 2015, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Darlene (David) Hallmark, of Heflin; sons, Kenneth Craig Turner, of Oxford, Eric Foster Turner, of Columbiana and Keith Hall Turner, of Heflin; sisters, Louise Vaughn, of Tuscaloosa and Dorothy DiMattia, of Pell City; 5 Grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Earlene was a resident of Cleburne County for most of her life. She worked and managed Bill's Dollar Store in Heflin for over 20 years. Earlene was an avid miniature golfer during the winter months that she spent in Kissimmee Florida. She loved to fish, camp, play cards and travel. Mrs. Kooken loved God and constantly studied her bible; she was a lifetime member of Pleasant Hill where she taught Sunday school and Bible school.
