Service for Edith K. "Mimi" Hackney will be today, March 14, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Ingram officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Hackney passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Hackney Carter (Bedford); son, Eddie Hackney; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one niece and several nephews, and her precious and loyal companion for the last ten years, her dog, Abigail. Pallbearers will be Ryan Reeves, James Hackney, Scotty Grimes, Lee Davidson, Bill Woolf and Matthew Humphrey. Mimi was passionate about her family and spent her life raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith and was known for her amazing style, glorious red hair and always said a girl could never have too many clothes. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Hackney; parents, Emmett and Pearl Kines; one granddaughter, Jill Hackney, and her siblings, Hoyt Kines, Anna Lou Webb, Robbie Kines, and Bill Kines.
