Funeral service for Edith Maureen Williamson Kirby, 93, will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 2 p.m. from Benefield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Johnson, the Rev. Wayne Cowhick and the Rev. Ryan Conger officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home-Wedowee from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday. Mrs. Kirby passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Jacksonville Hospital. Mrs. Kirby is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (husband, Rev. Truman) Norred, of Jacksonville and Teresa (husband, Richard) Cobb, of Pinson; one son, Gordon (wife, Rachel) Kirb,y of Piedmont; three brothers, Zenus Williamson, of Wedowee, Shellie Oren Williamson, of Peoria, Ill. and Preston Williamson, of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a special caregiver Claudine McCrig. Mrs. Kirby was born in Randolph County on July 26, 1920, the daughter of Albert and Mamie Craven Williamson. She was retired from Clegg Manufacturing Company and a member of Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Junior Kirby; a son, Captain Rance Kirby; a granddaughter, Terry Kirby; two sisters, Bernice Cummings and Lenora Howell and a brother, Kenneth Williamson. The family will accept flowers but prefer donations to Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church, 7101 County Road 65, Roanoke, AL 36274.
