Service for Edith Virginia Hoff, 93, will be today, December 27, 2014, at 1:00 P.M. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Rudy Ross, the Rev. Charles Thomas and the Rev. Sam Roe officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Hoff passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at RMC Jacksonville. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Grizzard (Horace), of Oxford; two grandchildren, Tonya Cate (Steve), of Gadsden and Carissa Whaley (Scott), of Weaver; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Cate, Tyler Cate, Joshua Whaley and Tucker Whaley. Pallbearers will be Eddie Lindsey, Larry Moore, Roger Hall, Cory Brothers, Paul Elliott and Charles Bond. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Whaley and Steve Cate. Mrs. Hoff was a resident of Piedmont most of her life. She was a member of the Piedmont Congregational Methodist Church where she previously served on the Church Board, also as Church Treasurer and was a Sunday School Teacher. She retired from Piedmont Executive and was a member of the Piedmont Lozahatchee Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Hoff was preceded in death by her husband, George Hoff; great-granddaughter, Serena Cate and her parents, Harold and Ella Mefford. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Dr. David Emerson, Dr. Russell Ulrich , to the entire staff of RMC Jacksonville and to the staff of Gentiva Home Health. Also a heartfelt "Thank You" to caregivers Ann Rainey, Erica Morgan, Cathy Hurley and Heidi Baldwin.
