Edna Irene McCulley Kirk, 94, passed away on March 25, 2016. She was retired as a supervisor at Anniston Sportswear where she worked nearly thirty years. Irene had various interests and talents. She was a composer, musician, poet and singer. She formed a band in the 1950's which performed locally and on WSPC radio station weekly. One of her compositions was performed by the country star, Kitty Wells, at the Grand Ole Opry. One of her greatest achievements was composing the music for Anniston, Alabama's seventy-fifth Founder's Day event called Annie's Town. She is survived by a daughter, Karen Reeder (Russell); two grandchildren, Randy and Teresa and a grandson-in-law, Michael Vancuron. Burial was in Anniston Memorial Gardens on Saturday.
