Graveside service for Edward L. Johnson, 88, will be held Friday, February 17, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Rick Reaves and the Rev. Mike Pope officiating. The family will receive friends at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mr. Edward Johnson passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice. He retired after serving more than 20 years active Federal Service in the U.S. Army, as Chief Warrant Officer 2, in the Engineer Corps. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Campaign Star, Occupation Medal (Japan); Army Commendation Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 1960; National Defense Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal Bronze Clasp with 2 loops; Meritorious Unit Emblem, and National Defense Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster. He also retired form Civil Service at Fort McClellan. Edward is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jeanette; daughter, Janet Prescott; one sister, Frances Pope; two grandchildren, Cheron Orth and Ryan Orth; two great-grandchildren, Leyden and Garrett Orth. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Irvin and Eula Johnson. He was a loving husband and father, wonderful grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.
