A memorial service will be held for Mr. Edward Stanley Henderson, 86, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Cummings officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Henderson passed away on January 18, 2017 at Jacksonville RMC. Mr. Henderson was born and raised in Pike County. He enlisted in the United States Army, was injured in the Korean War and was ultimately awarded a Purple Heart. Following the war, he moved to Gadsden to learn watch repair and then went to work for 35 years at the Anniston Army Depot as an optics repairman. He loved spending time showing his horses. He was awarded numerous awards and ribbons including being named the Alabama State Champion for Racking Horses in 1974. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Stanley Henderson. He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Walker; three sons, Edward Stanley Henderson Jr., Timothy Mark Henderson and Donald Clay Henderson; his grandchildren, Bonnie Stahl, Daniel Walker, Steven Henderson, Julie Graham, Lindsay Henderson, Melissa Henderson, Edward Henderson, Hillary Henderson, Hannah Henderson, Heather Henderson, Hayden Henderson and Scott Henderson.
