Funeral service for Elizabeth Anne "Liz" Smith Henson, 87, will be held Friday, November 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with the Reverend Dorothy Ann Webster officiating. Burial will follow in the Lineville City Cemetery. Mrs. Henson passed away peacefully on November 4, 2014 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Miss., surrounded by her family. A native of Lineville, Liz was born on November 2, 1927. After graduating as valedictorian of her high school class, she received her bachelor's degree from Huntingdon College. She married the love of her life, Aubrey, and relocated to Jackson, Miss., where they raised their two sons, Gene and John. Liz loved her family and friends and always put others before herself. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and enjoyed working as the office manager of her son, John's dental practice until this past summer. Always positive and quick-witted, Liz found great joy in cooking Sunday lunch for her family and spending time with loved ones. Mrs. Henson is survived by her two sons, Gene Henson (Ann), of Germantown, Tenn. and John Henson (Marie), of Jackson, Miss.; granddaughters, Staci Tyler (Brent), of Ridgeland, Miss. and Stephanie Henson, of New York, N.Y. and great-grandson, Henson Tyler. She is also survived by her sister, Eva Bryan (Jack), of Hutchinson Island, Fla.; two brothers, George Smith Sr. (Wanda), of Lineville and Tom Smith (Carolyn), of Oxford. Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Eugene Henson Sr.; her parents, John William and Velma Reeves Smith and one brother, James Lewis Smith. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 6000 Old Canton Road, Jackson, MS 39211, or the , 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS 39213.
