In the 1980's and 90's she worked with the Alabama State Employment Service with the Summer Youth Employment Program. She had a lifelong love for reading. After retirement she became an avid collector and loved antiquing. She was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church. Elmarie was preceded in death by her husband, Reggy; her brother, Owen E. Cox (Joyce) and her sister, Carolyn Palmer (William H.).
