A funeral service for Emogene Okes Turner, 89, will be Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the K. L. Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Simmons officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Beckley, WV. Mrs. Turner passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at NHC Place in Anniston. She is survived by two sons, John Michael Turner and his wife, Jean, of Birmingham and Arthur William Turner and his wife, Teresa of Irving, Texas; three grandchildren, Heather, Jonathan and Nathaniel; one great-grandchild, Joseph and 2 nieces and 2 nephews. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her and loved her, Mrs. Turner was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville where she served as librarian following her retirement. She was a teacher and librarian at Weaver Elementary School for many years and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Calhoun County Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Turner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville, P. O. Box 1025, Jacksonville, AL 36265.
