May I take a moment to share with you about one of the most wonderful people I've ever known. Mrs. Erstene Walker Barber, of Pell City, born November 21, 1924, entered the beautiful crossing into God's Heaven the evening of July 20, 2017. She was ninety-two years of age. Kay, her daughter, and I had just prayed over her and asked Jesus to come and take her gently home for it was time and she was totally ready. She was and is the most precious lady in the family and her love was known and felt by each member. Mrs. Barber is survived by her husband of almost seventy-two years, Kenneth Barber, who said, as Kay shared with him that his life's mate had passed away, " I can't remember a day that I didn't love her!" She is also survived by their daughter, Kay and husband, John Hall, of Bainbridge, Ga.; their son, Kenneth S. Barber Jr.; grandchildren, Mark and his wife, Melanie with their four children, Allison Hall Barber, and her three children, Jennifer and her husband, Howard Jones, and their two children, Kelly and her husband, Mark Furgerson and their two children, Wendy, and her husband, Jeff Isbell, and their two children, Christie and her husband, Tuggie Harmon and their two children; her sister, Martha, and husband, Charles Garrett who reside there in Pell City. A long-time member of First Baptist Church of Pell City, Mrs. Barber was close to the Lord who saved her many years ago. She was never ashamed of the Gospel and shared her faith openly and unselfishly. She was and is loved by count-less others who have come to know her in a personal way. She will be laid to rest in her home town of Pell City on Saturday, July 29, 2017 with a memorial service planned for Mrs. Barber at the First Baptist Church in Pell City at 11 a.m. A Proverbs 31 lady and the example of a wonderful life, she will be missed!
