Funeral service for Eva Boggs Simmons, 96, will be Thursday, April 21, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Piedmont Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12-2 p.m. at the church. Mrs. Simmons passed away peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2016, at her home. She is survived by her sons, Jim and David Simmons; sister, Arlene Maynard; brothers, Ray and Edward Boggs; three grandchildren, Darrin Simmons, Ashley McCarthy and Briar Hollingsworth; eight great- grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; along with the daughter she never had, Brenda Minter, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who had a long faithful life with her extended church family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ertis D Simmons; grandson, Tim Simmons; parents F.M. and Leona Williamson Boggs; brothers Oscar, Vernon, John Dennis and Leroy; sisters, Myrtice, Lorene, Opal and Evielou.
