Service for Mrs. Farris Mae Smith Kirk, 89, will be Monday, August 10, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted St. John and the Rev. Bobby Kirk officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Garden. The family will receive friends Monday from 12 - 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Kirk passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at her home. Survivors include her three children, Martha Sue Kirk, Mary Frances Tipton (Kenneth) and David Lee Kirk (Jane); three grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and sisters, Nellie Bee Ethel Brock, Sallie Mildred Coursey (Fred) and Clyde Mobley. Pallbearers will be Raymond Kirk, Alvin Goss, Phillip Kirk, Billy Tipton, Barry Tipton and Jeffery Tipton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Employees of New Beacon Hospice and her caregivers Melba Harrell, Pat Morrison and Jeannie Prater. Mrs. Kirk was born on September 29, 1925 in Piedmont and attended school at Greenwood. She worked at SCT Yarn and retired from Piedmont Springs Ind. She was a pastors wife for 43 years. She enjoyed gardening and loved animals. She was a caring mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Alton Kirk; grandson, Dustin Lane Ford; parents, Jack and Evie Smith and a sister, Mary Lee Hazel Goss.
