Funeral service for Mr. Floyd Arnold Humphries, 82, will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Chapel Hill funeral home with the Rev. Earl Tucker and the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Humphries is survived by his daughter, Janet Humphries (William) Klarman; sons, Gerald (Janice) Humphries, Darrell (Linda) Humphries and Brian (Jackie) Humphries; grandchildren, Gerald Humphries, Rebecca Hill, Jennifer Pembrook, Amy Poore, Timothy Humphries, Christopher Humphries, Jennifer Karasevich, Darrell Humphries Jr., Matthew Humphries, Tiffany Spradlin, Jessica Ruger, and Justin Ruger; twenty-one great-grandchildren and four great- great-grandchildren. Mr. Humphries was preceded in death by his, wife, Barbara Humphries. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Mr. Humphries was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He was a member of New Cannan Baptist Church and served as one of the deacons of the church. He played bass guitar for many years with the New Cannon Quartet, the Bill Cobb Trio and the Messengers. Mr. Humphries served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him. Online condolences made at www.chapelhillfh.com.
