Service for Forrest Faulkner Ray, 78, will be today at 12 p.m. noon at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jacob Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Goshen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 10 a.m. until time of service. Mrs. Ray passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Piedmont Health Care Center. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Paul D. Ray; son and daughter-in-law, Shannon and Cynthia Ray, of Piedmont; two granddaughters, Erin and Lexi Ray; one sister, Clyde Whatley (Joe), of Hartselle; sister-in-law, Jane Faulkner, of Oxford and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Charles Jarrell, Steven Ray, Eric Ray, Bob Forsee, Ricky Glover, Dr. Seth Rayburn, Dr. Scott Rayburn and Todd Whatley. Mrs. Ray was a longtime resident of Piedmont and was a member of Piedmont Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed working in the nursery. She was a Golden Patron in the Cumberland Presbyterian Women's Ministry. She was a retired elementary school teacher and had taught at B.B. Comer in Sylacauga and at Frances E. Willard and Southside Elementary School in Piedmont. She loved children, cross-stitching and bird watching. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olin and Maxine Faulkner and a brother, Olin "Buddy" Faulkner. The family request no flowers.
