A private memorial service for Mrs. Frances E. Eckhardt, 87, will be held by the family at a later date. Mrs. Eckhardt died Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at her residence. She is survived by one daughter, Carol (James) Short, of Alexandria; three sons, Jimmie (Donna) Jones, of Jacksonville, Arnold Jones, of Ohatchee and Wayne M. Jones, of Santa Fe, N.M.; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great- grandchildren; three sisters, Corrine Gutierrez, of Las Vegas, N.M., Rayitos (Leeland) Martinez, of Casper, Wyo. and Dora (Robert) Valdez, of Las Vegas, N.M.; one brother, Arnold Martinez. of Burley, Idaho.; several nieces and nephews and one aunt, Nancy Eckhardt, of Nebraska. Mrs. Eckhardt was born in 1928 to Frank and Cecelia Chacon Martinez. During her life she raised four children and was a wonderful and caring mother. In 1947, Mrs. Eckhardt accepted her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Mt. Hiller Baptist Church in Georgia. After living in Georgia, she moved to Anniston where she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mrs. Eckhardt then moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where she met her late husband, Donald Eckhardt. During her working career, Mrs. Eckhardt worked for the State Legislature for 14 years and was a waitress at several restaurants including La Fonda and the Plaza Cafe. She enjoyed life and meeting new people and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She transferred her latest church membership from Agua Fria in Santa Fe, New Mexico to her heavenly home.
