Funeral service for Mrs. Frances Evelyn Chaffin Kilmartin, 93 of Anniston will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with Terry Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Kilmartin died Monday, March 16, 2015 at NHC. Survivors include daughter, Pam Chaffin Arrington; step-sons, Bobby Kilmartin (Annette) and Jimmy Kilmartin (Evelyn); grandchildren, Brandi Arrington Cosby (Chris), Larry Arrington and Daryl Arrington; three step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kilmartin is preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Paul R. Chaffin; husband, Robert J. Kilmartin Sr.; her infant daughter, Paula Darlene Chaffin; son, Allan Ray Chaffin; parents, Carlin and Della Dial; five sisters and one brother. Pallbearers will be Terry Parker, Alan Parker, Larry Arrington, Daryl Arrington, Randy Bell and Don Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of The Allan Ray Chaffin Marine Corp. League Detachment 1329. Mrs. Kilmartin was a native of Clay County and a resident of Calhoun County for most of her life. She became a Gold Star mother when her son, Allan Ray was killed in Vietnam on Mother's Day in 1967. She was a precious soul that always had a sweet smile on her face, a warm and loving heart, a jar of sweet tea in the refrigerator and coffee with warm banana nut bread on the table. Known to many as Eddie, Aunt Eddie, Granny Eddie and Nanny, she had a one of a kind sweet spirit and was loved by so many. She will be greatly missed.
