The funeral service for Mrs. Frances Howard Gunter, 80, will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with the Reverend Abi Carlisle-Wilke and Ida Graham Rhodes officiating. Entombment will follow at Forestlawn Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. on this evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Gunter passed away on February 2, 2015 at NE Alabama Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Gunter was born in St. Clair County, lived in Pell City and attended Pell City High School. After marrying, she and her husband relocated to Calhoun County in 1951. She worked as a Recording clerk in the Calhoun County Probate Judge's office for 25 years and retired in 1997. She served her community by volunteering at Sav-a-Life and read and tutored children at Coldwater Elementary School. A lifelong Methodist, she taught Sunday School for many years and attended Eulaton United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for being a genuine, humble and kind person and was loved by many. Mrs. Gunter is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bertha Shaw Howard; a sister, Lois Howard Conaway and a grandson, Brandon Lane Davis. Mrs. Gunter is survived by her husband of 64 years, James Turner Gunter; her daughters, Diane Wood and her husband, Bill and Sharon Lackey and her husband, Jim; her brothers-in-law, James L. Conaway and Sam Gunter; her grandchildren, Eric L. Davis and his wife, Angela and Elisha Wilson and her husband, Sean; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Brandon and Liam; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rodney Conaway, Robert Shaw Jr., Jason Holley, Michael Holley, Sean Wilson and Eric L. Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be James Conaway, Donald Curry, James Beverly, Joe McCarson and Jerry Curry. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the general fund at Eulaton United Methodist Church, 401 Westover Road, Anniston, AL 36201.
