Frances Kirby Bailey, was born May 31, 1928, in Roanoke to Jadie and Mildred Kirby. She married her high school sweetheart and soulmate, Gordon Bailey, and was forever devoted to him, even after his death. Together, they had three children, who survive her, Patricia (Jimmy) Pruitt, of Hackneyville, Glenda (Barry) Owen and Bobby (Rita) Bailey, both, of Heflin. She leaves seven adoring grandchildren, Tim (Vickie) Pruitt, Chris (Misha) Pruitt, Traci Vella, Kelly (Danny) Payton, Leslie (Chris) Hallmark, Amber (Stewart) Bailey, and Judson (Tiffany) Bailey, and 15 great-grandchildren, for whom she was much more than a typical grandparent. To them she will always be "Granny Gord," an amazing role model who showered them with love and fun. She is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Prince and Betty Moon, both, of Roanoke. Although she loved her family above all, she also had a passion for travel, gardening, all things beautiful and lovely, and especially Auburn Football. Her yard was well known for its beautiful flowers, just as she was known for her incredible generosity, loving spirit, and fun loving laugh. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, December 23, 2016, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Philip Morris and the Rev. Brent Thompson, officiating. Burial will follow in Heflin City Cemetery. Visitation will be today, from 10-11 a.m. Visit online at Dryden Funeral Home 256-463-2287
