Frank Tyrone Hill, 74, passed away October 21, 2014 after a prolonged illness with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He was born on November 7, 1939 in Moulton, Ala. to Frank and Marie Hill. Frank is survived by his wife of 53 years, JoAnn Hill; his children and their spouses, Mr. Geoffrey Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Tim and Marty Blaydes, Mr. and Mrs. Marcus and Laurie Hill; his grandchildren, William Hill, Emily Hill, Tommy Blaydes, Jake Blaydes, Frank Blaydes, and Becky Blaydes; his brother and his spouse Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hill; his sister and her spouse, Mr. and Mrs. Toby & Diane Miller and his sister Ms. Glenda Fitz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Marie Hill. Frank attended Glen Addie Baptist Church, Monte Sano Baptist, Houston Lake Baptist, Perry First Baptist and Roswell First Baptist Churches. He was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for over 20 years. Frank began working at the age of twelve, wiring houses for his father's company, Hill Electric, in Anniston. After graduating from college and receiving a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science from Jacksonville State University in 1963, he worked for NASA at the Marshall Space Flight Center, directed by Dr. Warner Von Braun as a mathematician/scientific computer programmer. He worked on the Saturn 5 launch vehicle that transported the first man to the moon. In 1967, he was promoted to aerospace engineer and did research and development on launching and docking. In 1968, he moved to Robins Air Force Base in Georgia to work as a reliability engineer, chief of actuarial and configuration accounting and logistics management. He taught a course called Systems Analysis and Design at Crandall College of Business. He was also a licensed Georgia realtor and a Georgia Justice of the Peace. He retired in 2001 with 38 years of service to the government. He then continued his life long hobbies of woodworking, gardening, fishing and enjoying his grandchildren. Mr. Hill was actively involved in his community, participating as a Jaycee, a Mason, a Shriner, a Knights Templar, RAM and Order of the Eastern Star. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Home prior to the graveside service Saturday, October 25, 2014, from 10 am to 11 a.m. Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. at the Forestlawn Gardens & Mausoleum, with his brother-in-law, the Reverand John Screws, officiating.
