Service for Franklin Silvester Woods, 85, will be today, November 5, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Clem and the Rev. Kelly Clem officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. Mr. Woods passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Piedmont Health Care Center. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce Anthony Woods; daughter, Janet Woods; sisters, Edna Faulkner, Ellen Wheeler, Emma Jo Roberts, and Eva Mae Woods; sister-in-law, Jeanette Griffith; chosen children, Eric Knight, Lori Knight Nance, Sarah Clem Jones, Laurel Clem, Jackson Neyman, and Daniel Neyman, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be David Rhinehart, Larry Cronan, Sam Ray, Wes Neyman, Phil New, and Marcus Woods. Mr. Woods was a graduate of Spring Garden High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict as an Ammunition Supply Specialist. After release from active duty, he spent six years in the Army Reserve. He drove a rolling store for A.A. Adderhold and was known all over Cherokee County as, "the peddler." In 1967, he went to work at General Electric in Rome, Ga. and retired in 1993. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Frank Woods; parents, Percy K. and Essie Anderson Woods; sister, Evelyn Boles; brothers, J.M., Marcus, Argulous, James, Percy Aaron, and Jack Woods, and a special angel, Hannah Clem. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Dr. Ulrich and staff, and Piedmont Health Care Center for the love and care shown to their loved one." target="_blank">
