Petersburg, VA - Funeral services for Fred Lewis Mackey, 69, will be on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 3 p.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, the Rev. Dennis McKinney, pastor, officiating, the Rev. Frederick Durant eulogist. Burial will be in Hobson City Memorial Gardens. Mr. Mackey remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to his services. A wake will be this evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Chapel. Mr. Mackey passed away on July 11, 2013 at Southside RMC in Petersburg, Virginia. Mr. Mackey graduated in 1960 from Calhoun County Training School, and he served in the U.S. Army. He also attended Tuskegee University. Survivors include his son, Imari M. Mackey; daughters, Isis (William) Walton, Nikeita L. Ferrell, and Attlya N. Mackey; grandchildren, Ishari Walton, Myharri Mackey, Ja'Zhon Walton, Willow Walton, Amariyah Arnold; siblings, Emily Mackey, Edith Mackey, and Cynthia (Reno) Shorter; special friend, Charles "Hook" Howard, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felton and Charlcie Mackey; wife, Shirley A. Mackey; siblings, Charles Edward Mackey and Kennyth Mackey.
