Frederick Alton Lemka, 69, beloved husband of Mary Ann Carroll, lost his battle with MSA on August 25, 2013. Graveside services will be October 12, 2013, at Lemka family plot in Mountain View Cemetery located in Castleton on the Hudson, NY. He was born on February 21, 1944 to Alton and Virginia Lemka in Albany, New York. Fred was raised on a dairy farm in Schodack. N.Y. He graduated from Maple Hill High School in Castleton on the Hudson. In 1963, Fred joined the Navy and completed his tour of duty on the nuclear submarine, USS Skipjack where he received The National Defense Service Medal and Navy Good Conduct Award. Fred was a retired engineer from Verizon Wireless. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Carroll; mother, Virgina Monty; son, Doug Lemka; sister, Linda Hamel (Sofie); uncle, Raymond Lemka; married family, Kendale Burgess (Stacey), Geoff Carroll (Pam), Kenley Gardner (Josh), Kameron Sexton (Drew), Kadyn Carroll, Griffin Carroll and adored great-grand daughter, Kelby Gardner. Frederick was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandy Lemka; father, Alton Lemka; brother, Thomas Lemka and grandfathers, Frederick Lemka and Frederick Platt and grandmothers, Carrietta Lemka and Jessie Platt.
