Funeral service for Gaines E. Ray, 79, will be Saturday, October 10, 2015, 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. Bro. Keith Thomas and Bro. Daniel Harper will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 until service time. Mr. Ray passed away on Tuesday. Survivors include his son, Jimmy G. Ray (Denise); daughter, Kathy Adams (Keith); son, Roger E. Ray (Lois); grandchildren, Christopher Adams (Shannon), Christina Knowles (Brian), Jennifer Ray, Jonathan Adams (Britney), Mark Ray (Christina) and Tiffany Klein (Corey); 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Morris Ray (Barbara) and Vernon Ray (Debbie); sister, Janet Stricklin (Ray) and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Peyton Cofer, Jonathan Ray, Caleb Fortenberry, Christopher Adams and Brian Knowles. Mr. Ray was a life long resident of Calhoun County. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Ray was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a graduate of Titus Baptist Bible College. Mr. Ray also served as President of The Oxford House Residents Council. He was a very loving and devoted, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to many.
